On December 8, 2022, Celine shared a video on her Instagram account telling all her fans that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. She informed her fans that because of this disease, she wouldn’t be able to perform on the stage until she recovered. She even shared that she is still learning more about her medical condition and how it affects her daily life.
Moreover, she also said, “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”

Furthermore, she reassured her fans that she was trying her best to recover so she could one day return to the stage and sing for them. The Celine Dion disease, Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder caused by glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies blocking the enzymes. This leads to an increase in muscle stiffness and tone. These muscles are not always stiff but keep fluctuating, with episodes of muscle spam occurring anywhere and anytime. Moreover, this neurological disorder primarily affects muscles in the trunk and limbs.
