Amazon and Google urged to Follow the Anti-Gay App Ban Like Apple

Campaigners have acknowledged the Apple brand for removing an application that they claim stigmatised LGBT individuals from their store. This software promoted the thoughts of one of the religious groups in the United States that claim that the practice of homosexual is sinful. According to this religion, members should help in ‘calling up’ other human beings to their natural born gender as per the bible.

The Apple store now claims that the Anti Gay App is no longer available. However, the tech firm has not yet released any comments on this matter.

However, Amazon and Google are continuing to offer the Android version of this Anti Gay App . According to a report to NBC news from Living Hope Ministries which is the involved Christian Organization, they are planning to challenge the action of Apple in court.

However, the Arlington, which is a Texas-based body has no relationship with a United Kingdom-based church that goes by a similar name. The rules from Apple stipulate that apps should not have content that is mean-spirited, discriminatory, or abusive and this includes commentary about sexual orientation. The move has attracted a lot of interests from several quarters.

Dehumanising Anti Gay App

The application of Living Hope Ministries has been available on iOS App store for many years. However, this software was flagged as offensive by the Truth Wins Out on Thursday. According to image copyright Google Image caption, this Anti Gay App has been installed from the Play store, not more than 1000 times.

The non-profit campaigns whose headquarters are in Chicago are advocating against homophobia. The movement launched an online petition against this Anti Gay App after the founder of the group claim to have been offered ‘the run-around’ by the staff from Apple after calling them to complain about the existence of this app on their platform. These are serious claims that no one can take for granted.

In 2014, Tim Cook, who is the chief executive of Apple was the first Fortune 500 company leader to declare that he was homosexual. Earlier this year, Tim Cook told CNN that being a gay was the greatest give a person can get from God.

Even though it is not clear whether he contributed towards the subsequent removal of Anti Gay App from the online store of Apple, he was personally acknowledged together with his company by Truth Wins Out for the exemplification of corporate responsibility.

It also added; “Amazon and Google must stop promoting and selling this Anti Gay App with immediate effect, which dehumanizes the LGBT individuals.

According to Ricky Chelette, who is the executive director of the Living Hope Ministries, he had not been informed in advance that Anti Gay App was to be removed from the Apple store. He also denies the claims that it was a hate organisation.

OSN understands that Google has the intention of reviewing Anti Gay App product. It will be able to remove it if it believes that the app contravenes its content ban that inflames hatred against people based on their gender identity and sexual orientation. Amazon is also looking into this matter carefully.
