Recently concluded test match in the ongoing AUS vs SA test series has been making headlines for quite some time now. The reason for all the buzz is there for all the wrong reason. Ball tampering and all the fuzz going around on the social media about how the culprits (Warner, Smith and Bancroft) are to be punished. After a mere punishment of a match for Warner and Smith and Match Fee deduction for Bancroft Cricket Australia have finally made a big decision.
Cricket Australia have banned Steve Smith, David Warner for a year while Cameron Bancroft gets a 9 month ban. This decision from CA is a significant statement made by the board that they are not involved and neither have they supported these deeds. The ban on these two player also comes as a shock for the cricketing world as they were on the top of their game and are a major pillars around which Australia will look to build their world cup team. Once the verdict from the Australian board is out the Cricketing world is clearly divided into two half’s, where one says that this was too harsh as CA should have stayed with the BAN imposed by ICC and these player should not have banned for a year.
On the other hand the other group supports the decision and says that even a life ban will not be enough to justify the deeds of these players. Both Steve Smith and David Warner won’t be able to take part in this year’s IPL season. The BAN will be in effect from today till March next year which will mean that these player’s will be eligible to take part in the World Cup next year.
The Ban will surely impact the Australian preparation to next year schedule as they have a lot of important series this year and missing there captain and Vice-captain will definitely have an impact. After the BAN on the two Australian team will be led by Tim pain for the next match, Pane being a Good player still needs to learn a lot before he could be given such a big role.
Will the Australian team be able to get through this phase and be strong for the rest of the season to be a competitive side or will fall under this tremendous pressure is still to be seen.We just hope that the BAN could be reduced a bit so that we can see two of the most talented players in the world back in action and continue to entertain us further.
