He announced his retirement via an Instagram post Right now he is in Chennai for the practice session of IPL 2020. Ms Dhoni retirement news was expected to come, but the fans weren’t expecting to get this news on Independence day.
He played his last match in December 2014, his last T20 game was in February 2019, and his last One-Day International was the World Cup semifinal in July 2019.

Though the post did not mention the formats he is retiring from, Dhoni is expected to play in the upcoming PL 2020 in the UAE as he was spotted earlier today arriving in Chennai for Chennai Super Kings’ training camp before they fly out.
