Blue Exorcist Season 3: Plot, Release Date & Cast…

Is the Blue Exorcist season 3 in production? Is there enough content? When will season 3 of Blue Exorcist be released or is it even renewed? If you have any of these questions or want to find out more about Blue exorcist, then our guide is the key to all your answers.

Blue Exorcist is a dark fantasy show based on a manga with the same name by Kazue Katou. The show was brought into existence by A-1 Pictures who have released 2 seasons of this super hit show. These seasons were loved by fans all around the world. Sadly, there are still so many questions left to be answered that were left unanswered in the previous seasons. This has ultimately resulted in fans eagerly waiting for Blue Exorcist Season 3.

Blue Exorcist Plot

The series revolve around good and bad between two realms i.e. Gehenna and Assiah. Gehenna is a realm where demons and their ruler, Satan, exist. Assiah ,on the other hand, is the realm of humans. So how are both these worlds really connected, right? The only link between the two worlds is possession (basically, demons can possess humans and then control their actions making them do their dirty work in Assiah).

However, it isn’t enough for Satan to be the ruler of one world and he seeks to become the ultimate ruler of the universe. To achieve this, he needs to gain control of Assiah but he can only do this by possessing an actual human. This human is supposed to act like a vessel for satan. Unfortunately, Satan has no luck in finding a suitable human who will help him succeed in his plans. And so, he sends his very own son, Rin Okumura, to the realm of humans in an attempt to possess him one day.

Rin Okumara leads a normal life in Assiah. He has a twin brother Yukio who is an exorcist just like their adopted father. Both siblings are left broken after the death of their adopted father. This is where they both find out that their actual father is none other than Satan. In addition to this, Rin also discovers the reason for him being in Assiah and is not very happy about it. Moreover, instead of just sitting and waiting for Satan to possess him, he decided to do something about it and change his fate. He then becomes a student in an academy that trains exorcists so that he can ruin Satan’s plans. Besides this, Rin also has a few powers (as he is Satan’s son) but he only plans on using them for good and against Satan’s plans.

Blue Exorcist Season 3 Renewal and Release Date

Blue Exorcist Season 1 aired in April 2011. Then after a large gap, in January 2017, Blue Exorcist Season 2 came along and fans loved every bit of it. However it’s been a long time and there is still no word on Blue Exorcist Season 3. But since the production company has neither cancelled nor renewed the show for another season, we can expect a renewal in a short period. There are a couple of reasons why we think and expect the show to be renewed.

The main reason is that there is still a lot of content available for season 3. This is because the manga still has 25 published volumes which haven’t been touched in season 1 or season 2. Hence, fans of the show who don’t prefer reading deserve to know what’s happening next.

Besides this, looking at how long the production company took to release any news regarding season 2 and then actually airing it, we can expect them to do the same for season 3 as well. Additionally, the show was recently added to Netflix as well giving every viewer a hope that it will probably be renewed and released in the next couple of years if not in 2021.

Blue Exorcist Season 3 Plot

Season 3 of this dark fantasy series is going to be no less than a whirlwind where Rin and his friends will be seen against a group of people, The Illuminati. These people follow the king of light aka Lucifer and are hellbent on resurrecting Satan in order to bring demons and zombies to Assiah. A noticeably important member of Illuminati will be Sabutota Todou.

There will be another exciting event taking place in this season. Viewers will get to see the formation of a gate i.e. Gehenna Gate. This gate will act like a portal between the world of demons and humans. This gate was constructed by The Illuminati in the past in an area where once the Russian Nuclear Plant existed. However, due to the Exorcists, the Illuminati were unable to launch and make the gate work.

The current group of Illuminati is once again trying to make this portal work so that Assiah and Gehenna can unite to become a single world but they need to be stopped as the end result of this union shall be terrible. Alas! The only people who can bring an end to all this terror is Rin and his twin brother Yukoi.
